Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ physical and functional abilities through evaluations and observations.
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans to address physical challenges and enhance mobility, strength, and coordination.
- Provide direct physical therapy services in accordance with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to promote the integration of therapeutic activities into the classroom and home environments.
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting therapy plans as needed to meet evolving goals.
- Educate staff and caregivers on strategies to support students' physical development and accessibility needs.
- Recommend and support the use of assistive devices and adaptive equipment to facilitate mobility and independence.
- Participate in IEP meetings, providing input on therapy goals and progress.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations, including documentation requirements.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current New Jersey state license to practice as a Physical Therapist.
- Experience working with children with special needs, particularly in a school or pediatric setting, is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and IEP development.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
