  • Specifically, in this role, you will work alongside the Division President of Dallas One Solutions and Operations team to lead and execute capital projects for a division of INW.

Position Summary:

Manufacturing Project Engineer will provide engineering and technical support to the manufacturing operations and act as a project manager for all new capital projects including new product launches, process improvement projects and cost reduction initiatives. You will also work with cross functional teams to perform root cause analysis, packaging and labeling projects, automation program development and the integration of process improvement methodologies throughout the organization. 

You will participate in or lead projects including problem investigation, project requirements gathering, developing solutions, writing scope documents, specifying equipment, preparing appropriation requests and working on all phases of project and equipment installations. In addition, this position plays a critical role in our efforts as we continuously strive to improve our processes and reduce waste. In our fast-paced and dynamic manufacturing environment, you will take on and execute projects and studies of significant importance, scope, and complexity.

This role reports to the Dallas One Solutions Division President.

Location:

This position will be located onsite at our Dallas One Solutions facilities in Carrollton and Irving, TX. Travel requirements dependent on business needs; primarily domestic travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Core duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties, as required. Position will focus on project management, process improvement, new product launches, equipment and process optimization, vendor management as defined below.

  • Executing capital projects, ensuring cost, schedule, and performance goals are met or exceeded. This may vary from owning portions of a large project to sole ownership of a project
  • Ownership of project justification, completing payback analysis, and authoring requests for capital funds
  • Developing preliminary concepts, budgetary capital estimates, and timelines for new products, projects, and improvements
  • Assisting in and / or developing vendor bid packages and final vendor selection for purchased parts and services in collaboration with procurement team
  • Periodically providing status updates on project progress and issues
  • Investigating manufacturing problems in the plants and recommending corrective actions. This includes consulting with production personnel, analyzing the supporting data, recommending corrective actions, and following through on recommendations to evaluate their effectiveness
  • Drives achievement of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of assigned projects
  • Coordinating training and start-up activities of new equipment and processes
  • Manage capital, labor, parts, contracted services and expense budgets
  • Replacing/adding production capabilities by adding or modifying equipment
  • Establishing equipment SOP's and maintenance practices to place assets in a precision state
  • Modifying equipment and processes to automate manual tasks to improve capacity and/or reduce cost
  • Completing IQ / OQ / PQ process for new equipment installations when necessary.

Required Qualifications, Skills, Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • Basic understanding of engineering principals - knowledge of engineering disciplines: Process, Packaging, Electrical, Mechanical and Automation
  • 2-5 years of project management experience
  • Able to work collaboratively with other functional groups
  • Excellent communication and team skills (verbal, written and presentation)
  • Ability to take ownership of projects, to work independently and make autonomous decisions when necessary
  • Understanding design for reliability and total cost of ownership principals

Desired Qualifications, Skills, Education and/or Experience:

  • Experience with AutoCAD and PLC Programming is desirable
  • Understanding of Business – financial justification of projects
  • Analytical skills – data visualization and decision making
  • Ability to read engineering drawing
  • FMEA exposure
  • Project schedule development and management
