The Scripps studio in Atlanta is hiring a Technical Operator to support our network operations. In this role, you'll support the control room, using hands-on knowledge and skills to anticipate needs and troubleshoot issues.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Provide technical support for remote guests using various video conferencing platforms.

  • Provide support in managing incoming signals from the field.

  • Organize and ingest video from field crews and affiliates for editorial use.

  • Act as the primary technical support for operations for the control room and studio for specified times

  • Work with network engineering and operations to ensure needs are met in the control room and studio

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • 7  years of professional experience in live television.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Must work well under the pressure of a live broadcast.

  • Must be able to make quick decisions and give accurate instructions.

  • Ability to solve problems under pressure and apply hands-on knowledge to do so.

  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues over the phone with remote guests.

  • Possess excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Must understand the entire scope of needs in the studio and control room.

  • Good knowledge of IT applications and television broadcast equipment.

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Flexible work hours, including weekends, holidays, and possible overtime hours, are required.
