Nursing Adjunct Lab Instructor is responsible for assisting undergraduate baccalaureate nursing students to learn nursing interventions and develop clinical judgment in the nursing laboratory and simulation center. The adjunct lab instructor will prepare for modules/simulations, provide formative evaluations that promote learning, and validate nursing skills and competencies in accordance with evidence-based practice. The instructor must demonstrate advanced knowledge and clinical skills appropriate to an area of nursing practice. The following areas of clinical practice needed are:
- Pediatrics
- Maternity/Women’s Health
- Mental Health
- Medical-Surgical
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate student learning in the laboratory and simulation setting by coaching students to translate knowledge into the attitudes and skills required to give safe high-quality patient care.
- Supervise and instruct with individual attention to students in the laboratory setting.
- Evaluate student performance in the laboratory setting; provide frequent student feedback to enable success and validate competencies.
- Support and implement Iona’s Nursing Department’s policies and procedures as appropriate in laboratory setting.
- Foster a learning environment that supports diversity and professionalism.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Must hold an unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in New York State
- Must hold a minimum of a Master of Science degree in Nursing
- Experience in nursing lab and/or simulation, student supervision, and teaching methods preferred
- A minimum of two years of full-time direct patient care experience within the past 5 years in clinical practice specialty area.
