What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist position at Ionia County Intermediate School District?
Overview of Position: We are seeking a qualified professional to provide diagnostic, direct, and consultation services to students eligible for special education programs as deaf or hard of hearing. This role involves working collaboratively with educational staff, families, and community agencies to ensure compliance with Michigan Education Rules and to support the educational needs of these students.
Qualifications:
· Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in deaf or hard of hearing, pursuant to R 340.1799c OR
· Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate, and be actively working towards an endorsement in deaf or hard of hearing AND
o Possess one of the following three requirements:
§ Masters Degree
§ Minimum of 3 years teaching experience, not less than 2 years of which include special education
§ MDE teacher consultant approval
