POSITION TITLE: Facilities Manager
Department: Buildings and Grounds
Reports to: County Administrator
Ionia County is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to provide day-to-day oversight of the County’s buildings and grounds and janitorial team members and serves as an active member of the maintenance work team.
The County is looking for a leader that is knowledgeable about facilities management, understands modern processes, equipment and technology, is willing to both teach and learn, embraces and engages in training opportunities, and is committed to a safe working environment. Summary of Job Qualifications
· A minimum of 5 years of experience in related field.
· A minimum of 5 years of hands-on maintenance experience
· Previous management/supervisor experience of departmental staff that embodies leading by example, leading for success, and leading for results.
· Demonstrated experience establishing preventative maintenance programs, capital infrastructure projects, and grounds maintenance projects.
· Comfortable presenting bids, proposals and recommendations to the Board of Commissions.
· Valid Michigan Drivers License and undergo a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
· Position may require working outside of regular business hours, including weekends for emergencies and attending board meetings.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Facilities Manager
Department: Buildings & Grounds Wage Range: $62,109 - $76,024
Reports to: County Administrator Exempt
Summary:
Under the supervision of the County Administrator, the Facilities Manager is a working position, responsible for the maintenance of County facilities (buildings and grounds) and the supervision of the maintenance and janitorial staff. Planning for future improvements in coordination with the County Administrator and Board of Commissioners. This position is on-call in rotation with the maintenance workers.
Essential Functions:
· Provides effective management and leadership of departmental staff that embodies leading by example, leading for success, and leading for results.
· Develops and implements preventative maintenance programs and schedules for restoring, rebuilding, or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts for vehicles, equipment and facilities.
· Manages infrastructure improvements, by creating bid specifications/requests for proposals (RFPs) when necessary, in partnership with the Office of the County Administrator and/or the County engineer. Presents recommendations at meetings of the Board of Commissioners.
· Works with construction managers, architects, contractors and subcontractors on assigned projects.
Coordinates and collaborates with Sheriff Office and Road Department maintenance staff for county-wide projects.
· Researches, organizes, and assesses complex data, including budget development, schedules/deadlines, and scope delineation, to identify strategic planning requirements and resources necessary to achieve successful completed projects.
· Tracks projects and activities, assembles data, prepares correspondence and reports, and completes related administrative activities for the department.
· Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department’s service by offering suggestions and directing and/or participating as an active member of the work team.
· Develops and oversees the administration of department safety programs designed in accordance with OSHA and MIOSHA standards; ensures that OSHA/MIOSHA requirements are met; reviews and submits accident and injury reports to the Human Resources office and investigates causes as deemed necessary.
· Serves as mentor to lead, teach and manage assigned staff; assigns tasks, responsibilities and projects; evaluates performance, resolves workload and technical issues, and assures that goals are communicated and achieved.
· Attends monthly Department Head, Airport , Parks and Facilities Committees meetings.
· Oversees and approves all vouchers for payments and prepares annual budget with the Finance Officer, to submit to the Board of Commissioners.
· Approves staff time sheets.
· Approves and submits invoices to Accounts Payable.
· Ability to operate a variety of equipment and tools, including tractors, mowers, table saw, sander, weed-eater rakes, basic hand and power tools.
· Basic electrical and plumbing skills. HVAC preventative maintenance.
· Basic math skills.

Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor’s degree in facilities or business management a plus.
· A minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management as a supervisor or related field.
· 5 years of hands-on maintenance experience.
· Valid drivers license
