Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Security Engineer to drive the technical and process implementation across two key programs: an internal trust program and an external threat intelligence program.
This is an opportunity for a hands-on, technical and code-savvy security engineer with an emerging or existing interest in the next generation of computing to bring their diverse background and talents to bear in shaping the future of computing.
Responsibilities
- Develop an overall program for identifying risk based on insider threat and outside threat intelligence
- Write Python (or potentially Rust or Go) code to connect to a variety of systems to collect and analyze data in support of security alerting, evidence collection, and system hardening
- Follow secure software development practices while working in an agile team, helping to scope, plan, prioritize, and complete work
- Write technical documentation including software documentation, memos, and architecture diagrams
- Automate integrations with GitHub Actions or workflow-based tools
- Develop automation around data classification and DLP in partnership with the IT team to make trust simpler to implement
- Collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams, from legal, to engineering, to finance, to operations, to supply chain
- Assist with responding to incidents as they arise
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience -- untraditional backgrounds are welcome and encouraged
- 6 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity
- Experience writing Python code that is used and maintained over time by a team
- Experience with tools like user activity monitoring used in insider threat programs
- Experience creating, deploying, and tuning indicators of compromise (IOCs) for corporate and hybrid cloud environments
- Excitement to learn and get things done right
- Empathy for your internal and external customers
- Excellent communication skills, since you'll be working with folks of all backgrounds -- technical and non-technical alike
Nice to Have
- Masters or PhD degree in security, computer science, or related
- Proven ability to lead security initiatives
- Experience with building insider threat programs
- Experience with threat intelligence platforms and feeds
- Experience integrating log data sources to monitoring tools (SIEM)
- Experience building and using Docker containers
- Experience with infrastructure as code such as Terraform
Work Environment
This role will ideally be located at our Bothell, WA, or College Park, MD locations and able to work remotely several days a week. Travel: one week per quarter.
