Constant (67-100%)
- Train students under the Transportation Technology Center guide lines, assisting them at all times in a positive manner.
- Practice safe operation of a semi-truck at all times.
- Effectively organize and teach individualized and/or group coursework in accordance with established program objectives.
- Organize and present various concepts to a wide variety of students with varying backgrounds and abilities and adjust teaching techniques according to students’ needs.
- Maintain appropriate learning environment.
- Distribute appropriate materials to students as necessary.
- Administer required assessments for educational gains.
- Promote safe and responsible driving at all times.
- Guide students in choosing attainable educational goals and follow up on goal outcomes.
- Motivate and encourage students towards their learning goals.
- Work cooperatively with other departments and college personnel in ensuring student success.
- Work in a positive manner with all truck driving companies.
- Work with partner companies to complete student daily and master record paperwork.
- Follow instructions.
Frequent (34-66%)
- Communicate with the Coordinator and/or Director of changes in dispatch or problems on the road with the student(s) or trainee(s).
- Evaluate and accurately report student performance.
- Demonstrate proper techniques for training exercises.
- Evaluate and train Trainees for companies.
Occasional (10-33%)
- Assist in training new trainers as directed.
- Attend in-services.
- Take trips for the college or companies for the purpose of training students or trainees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
1. Be able and willing to represent Iowa Central Community College in a positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, suppliers and the community we serve.
2. Possess knowledge of the entire program, including field, street, and classroom instructions.
3. Be able to assume responsibilities and deal effectively with instructors and students and their concerns.
4. Be able to complete daily paperwork needed for record retention and companies.
5. Assist in instructor training as directed.
6. Must meet all the Federal Motor Carrier Regulations and all of the State of Iowa Department of Transportation regulations as well as policies and procedures set by the Transportation Technology Center.
7. Be able to learn and apply computer skills and use email.
