Nutrition Department : Nutrition Services Assistant (Class I)
Shift : 10 : 15-12 : 15
QUALIFICATIONS :
Physically able to work in a standing position for prolonged periods and to walk much of the time during the day.
Must be able to read recipes and follow instructions for food preparation.
Able to tolerate a warm, noisy work environment.
Maintains high standards of personal hygiene and job performance.
Is honest and dependable and is discreet in regard to information concerning school children and staff.
Must have manual dexterity to handle knives and other pieces of equipment.
Is able to work calmly and complete jobs in a timely manner, even under sometimes stressful conditions.
Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs.
Valid driver's license and vehicle for required travel.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO : Kitchen Manager
SUPERVISES : N / A
JOB GOAL : Assist in nutrition services as needed in order to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system, and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
Comply with required district, department and federal Child Nutrition policies as well as health standards, sanitation procedures and demonstrate knowledge of sanitation practices.
Follow attendance rules, including absence notification procedures.
Practice good personal hygiene.
Manage multiple tasks and use time efficiently.
Assist as directed in preparing food according to planned menus, standardized recipes, established food preparation methods, and mandated nutritional requirements.
Is able to properly use quantity food service production equipment including convection, conventional and combination ovens, griddles, steamers, steam kettles, slicers, mixers, dish machine, and other equipment.
Follow written and oral directions. Responsible for maintaining district email account and checking regularly for correspondence.
Must be able to perform with accuracy mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Completes assigned paperwork, including production records, portion sheets and sanitation records.
Operate the point-of-sale computer system as cashier during serving times and perform basic accounting duties.
Serve students during meal times and restock serving lines as directed.
Be courteous and respectful to all customers and co-workers.
Follows established sanitation guidelines for both food preparation and clean-up and performs clean up duties as assigned.
Fill in for other staff if someone is absent. Includes traveling to satellite locations as needed to serve or cashier. Training is provided for these duties.
Attends and completes district assigned training, which may include online or in person training.
Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : 175 Contract Days Department and District required training. Work year as established by the Board of Directors. Wage established by district adopted salary schedules.
EVALUATION : Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
