Job Description

Shift : Days, Monday through Thursday, 7 : 00 AM to 5 : 30 PM
Travel : In-state overnight travel sometimes required.
License : Driver's License Required.
This survey party chief position leads an engineering survey crew for the Design Bureau. This position is responsible for obtaining survey information needed to develop highway improvement projects on the primary road and interstate systems. The survey party chief performs technical engineering survey work and directs the activities of an engineering survey crew and is responsible for submitting survey files and drawings. This position requires skills and knowledge in engineering field survey procedures and electronic data collection techniques. Typical responsibilities include acting as a lead worker in the coordination of the work activities of crew members, directing the training of field personnel, assisting in the preparation of employee performance evaluation reports, performing survey computations, locating drainage boundaries, as well as collecting, formatting, editing electronic field data and developing 2d and 3d CADD models. This position requires excellent communication skills, ability to train others in survey techniques, knowledge of surveying field software and data collectors, and performing electronic data collection, CADD mapping and global positioning survey applications.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
The equivalent of four years of full-time engineering survey experience which included the operation of electronic and mechanical survey instruments;
an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting the equivalent of thirty semester hours of college, university, or technical school course work in civil engineering, construction engineering, or photogrammetry for one year of the required experience with a maximum substitution of four years;
employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes the equivalent of twelve months of full-time experience as an Assistant Survey Party Chief.
