Job Description
The Iowa Corrections Learning Center is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Training Specialist 2 who have knowledge and experience in the following areas : curriculum development, eLearning and adult workplace training.
Necessary competencies include :
Computer skills, strong writing skills
Ability to develop curriculum for adult learners in a structured manner
Ability to manage a statewide program; ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
Ability to provide oversight and management to several projects concurrently
Ability to present training in a classroom setting
Attention to detail; self-initiative and team commitment toward completing assignments efficiently
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Collaborative skills
Good customer relations / communication skills
Handling, carrying and setting-up equipment
Ability to work under and meet set deadlines
Being a dependable and responsible employee.
Work duties include, but are not limited to :
Managing a statewide Iowa Department of Corrections Training program, researching topics, writing curriculum including co-development with source experts, assisting in designing eLearning modules, and presenting various trainings to IDOC staff in a classroom setting.
This position will be a source content expert for programs such as Use of Force and Situational Awareness and Searches,
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university and experience equal to three years full-time work in one or a combination of the following areas :
Professional training, teaching or counseling experience in an educational setting;
Professional personnel administration including such areas as job analysis, performance appraisal system, selection devices or labor relations;
Professional experience in a major technical program area utilized by the employing agency;
a combination of education and experience to total seven years, substituting experience equal to one year of full-time qualifying work for each thirty semester hours of qualifying coursework;
a combination of education and experience to total seven years, substituting thirty semester hours of graduate coursework for each year of qualifying experience;
employees withcurrent, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to twelve months of full time work as a Training Specialist 1;
employees with current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to six years' full-time qualifying work.
