General Job Summary
This is a seasonal temporary full-time position located on the Emmetsburg or Estherville Campus beginning May 12, 2025. Possess skills in one or more specific trade areas required but will be primarily engaged in duties related to maintaining lawns and landscaping, including planting, fertilizing, weeding, soil conditioning, mulching, and applying herbicides and pesticides, operating and maintaining lawn and landscaping equipment. Employee will also be required to perform custodial or janitorial duties as directed by the Facilities Manager. Requires early morning responsibilities. Job duties may be performed at all campuses and in all buildings or facilities. Computer skills are beneficial.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (% OF THE TIME):
Constant (67-100%)
Medium work. Position requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%); up to 20 pounds frequently (34-66%); and up to 10 pounds constantly to lift or move objects. Must be able to perform routine stooping, bending, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions continually. Occasional kneeling and crawling. May be subject to bio-hazardous waste, chemicals, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and ladders, atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system or the skin; fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation; noise, and vibrations. Must complete Bloodborne Pathogens Training due to potential exposure to blood or body fluids while performing cleaning duties. Must have valid driver's license, good driving record, and provide proof of insurance.
Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Salary: $15.00 per hour

- Mow and maintain lawns and landscaping.
- Spray for weeds and fertilize lawns.
- Maintain lawn and landscape equipment.
- Act as security personnel by monitoring for unusual activities or personnel and reporting same.
- Work collaboratively with others to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Monitor and control weeds.
- Remove trash and debris from the grounds.
- Repair parking lots and sidewalks.
- Custodial work in buildings and on grounds.
- Maintenance of building exteriors.
- Represent the College in a most positive manner to employees, students, visitors, and the general public.
- Ability to perform medium lifting and repetitious physical activity.
- Experience, training, or education sufficient to perform duties and responsibilities normally associated with a skilled trade occupation.
- Knowledge of use of herbicides and pesticides and their application.
- Knowledge of and ability to safely operate lawn, landscaping and snow removal equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to use common maintenance and repair tools, such as hammers, saws, wrenches, etc.
- Ability to use computer to include Excel spreadsheets.
- Ability to operate lawn mowers, dump truck, and forklift and be responsible for their maintenance.
