Join our team of Planners and Project Managers serving our member governments in a six-county region in Northeastern Iowa.
The Iowa Northland Regional Council of Governments, located in Waterloo, Iowa, is an association of local governments that is committed to identifying, securing, and coordinating local, regional, and federal government projects and programs for the enhancement of our region and member communities.
We have a current opening for a Transportation Planner II to provide planning, programming, and project assistance to the Black Hawk County Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Iowa Northland Regional Transportation Authority. The Transportation Planner II plays a key role in shaping the future of transportation by providing technical expertise and guidance in transportation planning efforts. This role ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while fostering collaboration among municipalities, counties, and stakeholders and is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to lead initiatives that enhance mobility, safety, and infrastructure development in the INRCOG region.
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of planning practices and techniques including laws, regulations, and legislation.
- Advanced knowledge of organization and functions of municipal and county governments.
- Ability to access, read, interpret, and apply technical information, including local and state planning and zoning codes, state and federal transportation codes, traffic codes and laws, and their related ordinances, laws, and regulations.
- Knowledge of TRANSCAD, ArcMap, ArcCatalog, CMAT, and SAVER software programs.
- Proven ability to interact with the public, developers, contractors, and with other public officials in a positive, courteous manner
