Nurse Practitioner – Gastroenterology
The Specialty Clinic and Gastroenterology team at Iowa Specialty Hospitals and Clinics is seeking a Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about improving patient quality of life through diagnosis, treatment and support of those with GI conditions. Iowa Specialty Hospitals and Clinics focus on optimizing the practice environment and so our clinicians can feel proud of the care they give. This role will function as a critical member of the new Iowa Specialty Functional GI Program and be instrumental in support and growth of our current GI services. The GI care team delivers care to patients in the following locations: Clarion, Belmond, Garner, Humboldt, Hampton, Fort Dodge and Webster City. Exact practice locations and travel responsibilities of the role will be determined based on the provider.
Position
- Full time opportunity
- Schedule Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm, with flexible schedule and four-day work week available
- After hours calls only for critical lab values or imaging
- EPIC EMR System
- Practice independently with dedicated RN/LPN, plus the professional support of other ISH GI providers and staff
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct initial patient evaluations as well as follow-up/monitoring
- Practice advanced nursing care to patients with complex acute and/or chronic health conditions in an outpatient setting
- Provide consult services as appropriate
- Develop treatment and evaluation plans that use evidence-based practices outlined by the American College of Gastroenterology
Requirements
- Current, unrestricted license in Iowa
- Experience in Internal Medicine or GI preferred
- BLS/ACLS
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Excellent communication skills; efficient with new technology; able to work in a growing and changing department; critical thinking in complex clinical situations
