Objective

Dedicated and enthusiastic individual wanted to help maintain and grow our community/donation garden! In addition to garden maintenance duties, this position will support educational workshops and assist with presentations at local events. This is a great opportunity to engage with the community, learn more about sustainable gardening practices, and contribute to local food systems.

Responsibilities

Community Garden Support

• Assist with garden maintenance, including planting, weeding, watering and harvesting produce.
• Help maintain garden tools and supplies.
• Participate in seasonal tasks, such as preparing garden beds and composting.
• Work collaboratively with other volunteers and garden participants
  
  

Workshop Assistance

• Help set up, facilitate, and manage community gardening workshops.
• Assist in preparing materials for workshops, including handouts and informational resources.
• Engage with participants, answer questions, and provide guidance on gardening techniques.
  
  

Farmers Market Support

• Assist with the setup and take down of the community garden booth at the Farmer's Markets (a few markets per month) .
• Help with preparing and organizing displays of garden produce or related educational materials.
• Support in presenting information to market attendees, sharing knowledge about sustainable gardening and the benefits of local food systems.
  
  

Community Engagement

• Promote a positive atmosphere at the community garden and at related events.
• Encourage community members to get involved and learn more about sustainable gardening practices.
  
  

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with people of all ages and backgrounds.
• Comfortable with physical tasks, including lifting, bending and working outdoors.
• Previous gardening experience is a plus, but not required.
• Access to transportation to and from the community garden, located at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hampton.
