Responsibilities
Community Garden Support
- Assist with garden maintenance, including planting, weeding, watering and harvesting produce.
- Help maintain garden tools and supplies.
- Participate in seasonal tasks, such as preparing garden beds and composting.
- Work collaboratively with other volunteers and garden participants
- Help set up, facilitate, and manage community gardening workshops.
- Assist in preparing materials for workshops, including handouts and informational resources.
- Engage with participants, answer questions, and provide guidance on gardening techniques.
- Assist with the setup and take down of the community garden booth at the Farmer's Markets (a few markets per month) .
- Help with preparing and organizing displays of garden produce or related educational materials.
- Support in presenting information to market attendees, sharing knowledge about sustainable gardening and the benefits of local food systems.
- Promote a positive atmosphere at the community garden and at related events.
- Encourage community members to get involved and learn more about sustainable gardening practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Comfortable with physical tasks, including lifting, bending and working outdoors.
- Previous gardening experience is a plus, but not required.
- Access to transportation to and from the community garden, located at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hampton.
