Objective
Iowa 4-H and the County Youth Coordinator will focus on Positive Youth Development (PYD). Staff will work with youth, volunteers, and professionals to plan, implement, and evaluate a progressive series of educational programs and experiences that work toward multiple life skill outcomes (productive citizens, outstanding communicators, effective leaders, and successful learners). This position should empower youth to reach their full potential through Youth Adult Partnerships and research-based experiences.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with K-12 youth and volunteers to provide programming and skill building opportunities.
- Develop and implement a year-round county strategy for recruitment and retention of volunteers.
- Develop and implement a year-round county strategy for recruitment and retention of 4-H youth.
- Plan and orchestrate events: annual awards night, workshops, leader meetings.
- Assure compliance with risk management policies, including required training and background checks of volunteers.
- Promote 4-H state and county programs, events, and activities using social media, county website, flyers and county app.
- Serve as liaison between Webster County Extension and Webster County 4-H Endowment Board.
- Serve as liaison between Webster County Extension and Webster County Fair Board.
- Represent Iowa State University, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, and Iowa 4-H professionally and positively.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, volunteers and partners.
- Using 4-H databases, collect, analyze, and share county data to ensure program effectiveness.
- Implement programs in accordance with state and federal guidelines and policies.
- Administer evaluations and share impacts and successes with County Extension Council and partners.

- 4-year degree in related field
- Bilingual; fluent in a second language
- Experience organizing events and activities
- Experience as a member, volunteer or employee with the 4-H Youth Development Program
