Responsibilities
- Travel throughout Henry County to lead educational youth programs utilizing provided research-based curriculum.
- Teach youth in an engaging way that leads to greater knowledge and positive development.
- Provide a safe, educational, and enjoyable youth learning experience.
- Work independently and with local staff and other educators to secure and manage necessary resources (volunteers, materials, new ideas, etc.)
- Maintain a working relationship with the 4-H Youth Program Specialist, and local youth staff in each county.
- Collaborate with staff to communicate program impacts, primarily through social media, photos, and videos.
- Demonstrate professionalism as an ISU Extension and Outreach professional through image, public relations, and networking.
- Implement programs in accordance with state and federal guidelines and policies.
- Work on additional programming needs as directed by the 4-H Youth Program Specialist.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of work based on locally identified needs which will lead to improved quality of living for youth and adults, in partnership with the County Youth Coordinator and County Extension Council.
- Develop partnerships to implement vetted, educational curriculum-based youth development programs including following five program priorities areas: (1) STEM; (2) Communications and Arts; (3) Healthy Living; (5) Leadership and Civic Engagement, advancing Iowa's 4-H mission and vision.
- Provide leadership and volunteer coordination of 4-H County Fair activities as they relate to K-12 youth, while maintaining positive relationships/partnership with County Fair Board and volunteers.
- Develop and implement county recruitment and support/training strategy for volunteers that represent the local community.
- Assure compliance with risk management policies, including required training and background checks of volunteers.
- Promote 4-H state and county programs, events, and activities, working with local partners and media.
- Represent Iowa State University, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, local county 4-H and Iowa 4-H, professionally and positively.
- Develop funding through partnerships, donors, grant funding, fundraising, and tax support through County Extension Council to ensure adequate financial resources for youth programming.
- Bachelors Degree Preferred
- Excellent performance working with and teaching youth in a group setting.
- Strong organizational, communication and customer relation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, social media, and email applications.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass background screening to meet the Child Protection and Safety Policy.
