Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University is now accepting applications for an Intern at the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC). The LVMC offers an internship designed to prepare interns for an in-depth training in various areas of veterinary specialty practice. Our programs strive to prepare trainees for active careers in academia, specialty practice, or for further pursuit of a residency program. The intern program is one year in duration.
Interns will follow specific program guidelines and may rotate through various internal and external specialty areas specific to their program’s requirements. Interns are expected to provide backup duties in emergency cases, along with weekend and after-hours obligations. Interns participate in clinical rounds, morbidity and mortality and pathophysiology seminars, as well as various section and departmental academic programs. Attendance and participation in the seminar component of the training program is required by all Interns.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- DVM or equivalent degree.
- Registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy in compliance with the Controlled Substances Registration Act will be required prior to clinical practice.
- Licensure by the State of Iowa Board of Veterinary Medicine upon employment start date.
- Meets all requirements as advertised in the Veterinary Intern and Resident Matching Program (VIRMP) which the candidate has been matched with.
