SUMMARY
The position of Credit Analyst I performs independent analysis of commercial and agricultural loan requests. The credit analyst reviews the financial information of a loan applicant or existing customer to determine credit worthiness and ability to repay the loan. Skills required include proficiency in accounting and financial software, attention to detail, knowledge of risk analysis, organizational ability, problem-solving, and effective communication. Participates in bank committees and consistently applies the Vision, Mission and Values of the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with loan officers to process requests for financing from inception through payoff, including new loan requests, and renewals and modifications of existing loans.
- Input comprehensive customer financial data into credit software for loan officers for analysis and evaluation.
- Analyze interim and annual year-end financial statements and performance ratios of the loan applicant, existing customer, and / or guarantor, and compare results with industry specific information.
- Review compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, bank policies and procedures relating to the commercial and / or agricultural lending functions.
- Work with the loan officer to ensure required financial information from customers is processed in an accurate, timely, and consistent manner. Prepares a written loan presentation in consultation with the loan officer.
- Utilize the loan documentation system to file, store, and manage information. Assist loan officers in correcting documentation and technical exceptions.
- Apply established procedures for loan disbursements over the life of development and construction loans. Ensure equity injections are tracked and received.
- Perform on-site collateral audits for existing and prospective customers and prepare written audit findings and recommendations.
- Facilitate compliance with required loan covenants to ensure financial risk is properly managed, assist in monitoring delinquent loans, perform loan stress testing, and participate in loan committees.
- Maintain strong financial relationships through onsite visits and communication with current customers.
- Execute strategic initiatives and objectives as directed by executive management.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by cooperatively working with other department team members and bank personnel.
- Seek to improve the Bank’s strategic and operational performance by actively participating in continuing education, professional development, and financial meetings.
- Build new relationships by networking with potential customers and community business leaders through participation in community organizations and events; Serve as a bank representative in professional, business, and community organizations.
- Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
- Diligently protects and appropriately manages confidential and sensitive information.
