FOOD SERVICES MANAGER
OVERVIEW
The Food Service Coordinator serves Wesley Woods Camp and Retreat Center by carrying out its Mission and Core Values as a member of the Camp Support Services Ministry Team at our Indianola, Iowa location. This position reports directly to the Wesley Woods Site Director.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Responsible for the overall operations and cleanliness of the camp’s dining and food preparation facilities to ensure a safe, healthy, attractive, and functional environment.
- Schedule, organize, and perform facility cleaning and preparation. Willing to assist in trash collection and laundry care as needed and directed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of hands-on experience in dining services, with at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
- Mature, capable, hospitality-oriented person.
- Working knowledge of best practices in food service and hospitality.
- Ability to train, lead, and supervise year-round and summer staff members and volunteers.
- Dedicated Christian with a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and willing to share their faith in Christ with others.
- Certifications/Licensing (or willing to obtain): ServSafe Food Production Certificate.
- Physical Demands: High physical engagement, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficiency in Microsoft products - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid from a nationally recognized provider.
- Teachable spirit, self-motivated to learn new processes.

SPECIFIC MINISTRY DESCRIPTION BREAKDOWN
Food Preparation and Service Responsibilities (Supervise and Coordinate) (60%)
- Create and execute menus that are attractive and nutritious within budgetary guidelines. Ensure compliance with USDA Summer Food Service Program requirements for summer camp menus.
- Stay updated with culinary trends, experiment with new dishes, and continuously improve the menu.
- Address dietary restrictions, allergies, and special requests, ensuring alternative options are available.
- Implement quality control measures for taste, presentation, and nutritional value.
- Minimize food waste through portion control, creative use of leftovers, and proper inventory management.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, including food storage, handling, and sanitation.
- Order and stock food service supplies, verify deliveries, and manage invoices.
- Oversee routine cleaning schedules and ensure high-quality standards.
- Assist in general camp clean-up after guest groups depart.
Administrative Responsibilities (30%)
- Train, schedule, assign, and supervise the Food Services Ministry Team. Make hiring recommendations for kitchen staff.
- Create and manage work schedules, ensuring adequate coverage during peak hours and special events.
- Serve as a resource for seasonal staff regarding food service and hospitality during summer.
- Foster staff and volunteer morale, spiritual well-being, and team unity.
- Meet weekly with the Site Director to address concerns, prioritize tasks, and review accomplishments.
- Maintain up-to-date and organized records and budget adherence.
Fund and Community Development (5%)
- Support fundraising goals through collaboration and strategic engagement.
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers for fundraising campaigns.
- Provide direction and guidance to volunteers, ensuring clarity on objectives and tasks.
- Cultivate donor relationships aligned with camp’s Mission and Core Values.
- Promote Wesley Woods positively in the community and participate in professional development to enhance fundraising skills.
Other Responsibilities (5%)
- Champion our Mission and Core Values to the Food Service Ministry Team and other team members.
- Collaborate with the Site Director on strategic communication plans, including social media content development.
- Contribute to Wesley Woods’ strategic marketing efforts to attract new visitors and participants.
- Attend professional training seminars and conferences.
- Participate in staff meetings, devotions, and contribute to ongoing process evaluations.
