Job Description
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Independence Mental Health Institute (IMHI) are seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to join their interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care on one of the three inpatient psychiatric units, with an average caseload of approximately 8-10 patients.
- Actively participate as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team in collaboration with medical, nursing, psychological, social work, and other health specialties.
- Conduct ongoing assessment including health and developmental history, psychosocial history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests.
- Review, evaluate, and document patient response to care; assess patient medical/nursing/educational needs and provide both formal and informal teaching.
- Work collaboratively with administrative, medical, and other clinical departments to expand and implement evidence-based modalities of care including dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) skills and trauma-responsive care.
