What you’ll do at IP Corporation as the Corporate Health & Safety Manager:
This position shall be responsible for ensuring health & safety regulatory compliance and continual improvement in occupational injury and illness performance in all of IP Corporation’s businesses and locations. Working in close cooperation with corporate and location personnel, this role will lead, improve, implement, sustain and participate in IP Corporation’s environment, health & safety (EHS) management system.
What you can expect to do in this role:
- Maintain a current working knowledge of and ensure compliance to all applicable local, state, and federal health & safety laws and regulations.
- Act as a regulatory arm for OSHA compliance.
- Develop, establish and maintain Corporate Health & Safety policies and procedures for safe work, including injury and illness prevention and improvement.
- Provide leadership, strategy and initiatives necessary to appropriately manage health & safety risk for IP Corporation.
- Develop systems and process for continual improvement in behavior-based safety and risk assessment with the goal of top tier industry safety performance.
- Lead, assess, direct and train the organization as necessary to ensure compliance to OSHA §1910.119 (PSM).
- Provide direction, analysis and guidance on major capital projects and process changes in the area of health & safety.
- Prepare all sites to achieve “audit ready” status for OSHA inspections.
- Develop, implement and participate in an internal audit system.
- Report safety incidents to senior management. Oversee health & safety incident investigations and resulting CAPAs.
- Supervise health & safety staff.
- Take a hands-on approach to identify and correct issues to improve compliance, improve safety practices and increase behavior-based safety mindset throughout the organization.
- Mentor and coach Plant EHS Managers.
- Manage assigned projects.
- Perform calculations and analysis as required.
- Travel is required to support the company’s goals and objectives.
What we’re looking for in a Corporate Health & Safety Manager:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biology, chemistry or equivalent experience.
- Professional certification such as CIH, CSP, CHMM, PE or equivalent (preferred)
- 10 years of OSHA compliance management.
- Experience in developing and managing EHS Management Systems conformant with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001.
- Experience developing and leading behavior-based safety programs.
- Experience with AIChE Risk-Based Process Safety PSM Model implementation.
- OSHA compliance management experience in a leadership position.
- Batch chemical processing manufacturing experience. (preferred)
