The Interplastic Corporation intern program is a 10-week program designed to introduce students to working within a manufacturing environment. Students will benefit by exposure to all aspects of manufacturing, such as supply chain, engineering, maintenance, scheduling, research and development and safety. You will engage daily with all departments. Candidates will be able to apply the skills and knowledge learned at the educational institution, by collaborate with team members on projects. Improve their analytical, critical, and technical skills as it applies to the professional field of environment, health & safety (EHS), including process safety management (PSM).

- Attend daily management meetings.
- Interact daily with team members on the production floor.
- Identify and report any environmental, health and or safety issues to management.
- Work with EHS Manager to create a chemical compatibility chart for all chemicals within the facility.
- Engage in EHS behavior-based programs (SafeStart, SMAT, toolbox topics, safety meetings).
- Conduct water balance assessments for industrial wastewater and facility stormwater.
- Create process flow diagrams to illustrate waste generation throughout the plant
- Assist in developing standard work (e.g., standard operating procedures, work instructions, forms) for managing solid and hazardous waste streams
- Assist in developing standard work (e.g., standard operating procedures, work instructions, forms) and other program documents to further develop air emissions management processes.
- Candidate must be currently enrolled in an accredited university working towards a bachelor's in Safety Science, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a similar field.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft.
- Knowledgeable about chemical hazards, properties, and safe handling.
- Understand and adhere to the facilities safety rules.
