Job Title: Systems Consultant
Team: Field Engineering
Summary:
In addition to providing cloud services, IP Pathways is a Managed Services Provider (MSP) and Value Added Reseller (VAR) that resells, installs, and delivers professional services for data center infrastructure, including virtualization, storage, networking, and security.
To support these services, our Field Engineering team is responsible for implementing and migrating clients to advanced systems. This includes technologies such as Cisco, VMware Broadcom, Omnissa (VMware Horizon), NetApp, Microsoft products, and other enterprise-class infrastructure solutions.
In addition to implementation and migration services, the Field Engineering team provides escalated technical support to ensure clients achieve optimal system performance.
We are hiring a Systems Consultant to join our Field Engineering team. This role will focus on implementing, managing, and supporting virtualization, servers, enterprise storage, Microsoft products, and other data center infrastructure systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Provide advanced engineering expertise to implement, support, evaluate, and design enterprise-class storage, virtualization, and data center infrastructure solutions.
· Install, configure, and maintain highly-resilient, scalable, and specialized storage, virtualization, and data center infrastructure solutions.
· Perform systematic troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex systems issues, providing clear and timely remediation recommendations.
· Create and maintain detailed infrastructure documentation, including system diagrams and architectural assessments for support, audits, compliance, and disaster recovery.
· Establish and maintain effective communication with project teams to ensure awareness of project and ticket statuses, risks, and impediments.
· Act as an escalation resource for the IP Pathways Support Engineering team.
- Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation, approximately one week a month. Performing after-hours projects and cutovers would be in addition to this rotation and is scheduled in advance.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Expertise in implementing, managing, and supporting enterprise-class technologies, including:
· NetApp ONTAP for enterprise-class storage solutions.
· Broadcom VMware vSphere: Expertise in implementing and managing virtualization infrastructure in production environments, including configuration, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
· Omnissa (VMware) Horizon: Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions in production environments, including configuration, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
· Cisco UCS (UCSM and UCS-X) for scalable and high-performance data center deployments.
· Windows Server and Active Directory in domain environments, including issue identification, remediation, and root cause analysis.
· Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft 365 environments, including migrations and ongoing support.
· Strong ability to design, implement, and support end-to-end infrastructure solutions tailored to client needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Relevant certifications in storage, virtualization, or data center technologies.

o Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Specialist
o VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP)
o Microsoft Certified: Windows Server
o Microsoft Certified: Exchange Server Expert
· Proven ability to articulate technical concepts effectively to all levels of client staff, including executives.
· Familiarity with maintaining comprehensive project documentation for compliance and disaster recovery.

Physical Requirements:
· Ability and willingness to rack servers, switches, and other data center equipment as needed.
· Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including participation in a 24x7 rotating on-call schedule.
Travel:
This position does require some travel, up to 50%, and is scheduled in advance. When traveling, the company provides hotels and rental vehicles, along with reimbursement for all associated fuel and meal expenses. Travel is generally in of the IP Pathways’ markets; Des Moines, Columbus, Omaha and Kansas City.
