Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Ocean Import Specialist to join our logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the import process of goods via ocean freight, ensuring compliance with regulations, and coordinating with various stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management and a passion for optimizing transportation processes.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end ocean import process, including documentation, customs clearance, and delivery coordination.
- Collaborate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure timely and accurate importation of goods.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Monitor shipment statuses and proactively address any issues or delays that may arise during transit.
- Coordinate with warehouse management to ensure proper handling and storage of imported goods.
- Utilize supply chain management principles to optimize logistics operations and improve efficiency.
- Assist in demand planning and inventory management to align import activities with business needs.
- Support transportation planning efforts by evaluating shipping routes and fleet management strategies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in supply chain management or logistics, specifically within ocean import operations.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems and third-party logistics (3PL) providers is preferred.
- Strong understanding of transportation planning principles and fleet management practices.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Proficient in using software tools related to dispatching and supply chain operations.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with internal teams and external partners.
