Position: Director of Manufacturing
About the Role:
As the Director of Manufacturing, you will collaborate with the VP, Extrusion, to create the strategic direction for our extrusion manufacturing sites. You will oversee and be accountable for the operations of multiple manufacturing plants. Your primary objective will be to lead all facets of manufacturing for operational excellence through Plant Managers and act as the main liaison between Manufacturing and other departments such as Sales, Supply Chain, Innovation, Engineering, and Finance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health & Safety: Prioritize and execute health, safety, and environmental initiatives within plant operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Support and drive continuous improvement initiatives across all plants.
- Inspiring Leadership: Provide clear leadership, inspiration, vision, and motivation to your team.
- Operational Efficiency: Lead Plant Managers to ensure maximum operational efficiency through coaching, mentoring, and training.
- Opportunity Analysis: Review, analyze, and present potential opportunities across manufacturing operations.
- Knowledge Exchange: Facilitate information and knowledge exchange between plants to maximize synergies.
- Performance Evaluation: Evaluate Plant Manager performance, participate in succession planning, and ensure the availability of key talent.
- Supply Chain Collaboration: Collaborate with Supply Chain for optimum planning and capacity allocation to exceed customer expectations.
Key Qualifications
- Completion of University Degree in Engineering preferably with a Masters Degree and accounting, managerial or equivalent experience.
- Over 7 years experience as a Plant Manager of a large facility including experience in at least one other functional area.
- Excellent communication, organizational, analytical and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of injection molding processes and/or extrusion processes and/or fabrication processes, plastic principals, general mechanics and auxiliary.
- Proven ability to handle multiple tasks in different functional areas
- Must be able to manage cross functionally with direct and indirect influence while delivering measurable results
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to Coach and facilitate individually and at the team level.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency and strong personal ownership to operational performance and excellence.
- Effective at engaging and leading stakeholders across levels and businesses in order to realize operational excellence goals and objectives.
- Flexible, adaptable, and self-motivated. High level of ownership and accountability in delivering business value
