Job Summary
The Mold Tooling Manager will be responsible for leading the activities for Mold Tooling and Machine Shop operations, including continuous improvement and up-keep. These activities are to be conducted while ensuring and improving safety, product quality, housekeeping and cost control to achieve plant goals.
- Direct the daily Mold Set-up and Machine Shop activities.
- Lead projects related to tooling, analyze and present cost saving ideas for injection molding tooling.
- Participate in continuous improvement by providing suggestions and participating in management meetings.
- Maintain quality standards by aligning with the Approved Compounds/Components List, Quality Control Manual, and ISO procedures.
- Prepare cost evaluations on new tooling, repair or replacement of tooling, and change of design programs for managerial review.
- Inspect machines, tooling and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimize utilization. Identify variances to be discussed with management.
- Tests new tooling and equipment to check process efficiency and measure results.
- Identify, report, and follow-up on maintenance related issues by use of the work order system.
- Assist in the start-up and troubleshooting of process related problems with injection molding equipment, tooling, and auxiliary equipment.
- Coordinate and implement action plans for the successful implementation of EH&S/ISMS Element 14.0 Personal Protective Equipment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Engineering (mechanical or industrial preferred), or 10 years equivalent experience.
- A proven track record in a continuous improvement manufacturing environment with ISO 9001.
- A solid working knowledge of the injection molding process & machine shop operations.
- Excellent leadership/management, written & verbal communication, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- A strong working knowledge of computers using word processing, spreadsheets and AutoCAD.
- Strong mechanical engineering understanding, acumen and working practice experience to be able to direct machining assignments, tool design and equipment and plant layout engineering activities.
