Hourly Rate: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
The mission of IPH Housing is to provide permanent housing to people experiencing homelessness. IPH Housing and supportive case management are a foundation from which clients can improve their well-being and pursue a meaningful and joyful life. The Resident Support Staff provides direct support services to individuals and families living in IPH’s permanent supportive housing program.

Principle Responsibilities, Accountabilities, & Duties
The Resident Support Staff will ensure a safe, secure, clean and positive environment for the housing participants that reside in our fixed housing locations.
Safety and Security
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by making routine rounds of properties, both interior and exterior, and reporting situations needing follow up
- Provide oversight of the tenants at all fixed-site units (165, 171, 175, 177, 250, and 315 Sheridan Avenue)
- Monitor the inflow of tenant’s guests and diffuse conflict
- Implement crisis intervention techniques and respond effectively to emergency situations as needed
- Contact Mobile Crisis, the Neighborhood Engagement Office or Emergency Services, as necessary
- Monitor security camera footage
- Report all maintenance concerns to the Housing Supervisor, report emergency maintenance concerns to the Facilities on-call staff.
- Light cleaning duties of common areas, laundry rooms, and grounds
- Additional position-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Housing Supervisor
Supportive Services
- Manage incoming calls from stationed phone line
- Provide tenants with access to their unit if they have locked themselves out, report all lockouts in the Communication Log
- Assist with collecting or providing documentation, assist tenants with copies or fax documents to providers, etc.
- Interact with tenants and their guests using person-centered, strength-based, and recovery-oriented approaches
- Enforce healthy boundaries and redirect as appropriate
- Implement harm reduction and Housing First principles when working with tenants.
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all areas written, spoken, and observed communication
- Maintain records of client activities, behaviors and incidents
- Enter progress notes into the Homeless Management Information System
- Complete the nightly Communication Log
- Complete Incident Reports, as needed
- Collaborate with the Housing team, Shelter staff, and Maintenance staff, as needed
- Participate in bi-weekly supervision with the Housing Supervisor
Professional Development
- Participate in professional development programming at the request of the Housing Supervisor
- Attend trainings as necessary
- Obtain and maintain CPR/FA certification
Qualifications
- Experience in a human services setting; experience with the homeless population preferred
- Experience working with individuals with mental illness and/or substance-use disorders preferred
- Formal crisis intervention training preferred
- Sensitive to the needs of the homeless community
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, work independently, and manage competing priorities
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with Windows, MS Office, MC Outlook, and database use
- Valid New York State Driver’s License
- This position involves driving, and the selected candidate will operate a company vehicle and must have a clean driving record of 3 years.
Hours, Salary, & Benefits Information
- The Resident Support Staff reports directly to the Housing Supervisor
- Hours: Tuesday-Saturday: 5:00 pm-1:00 am
- Optional holiday hours
- Hourly position starting at $20.00/hour ($39,000.00 per year based on 37.50 hours per week)
