Summary
We are seeking a skilled Tool Maker to join our dynamic team at IPL Global. In this role, you will be instrumental in the design and fabrication of tools that enhance our manufacturing processes. Your expertise will contribute significantly to our commitment to sustainability and product excellence.
Responsible for machine programming, set-up and use, troubleshooting, light fabricating, routine product inspection and preventative maintenance of machines, as required. The Toolmaker/Programmer reports to the Director, Advanced Manufacturing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Machine Programming, Set-Up, and Use
- Program parts using Mastercam software for both CNC mills and lathes.
- Set-up CNC and manual machines and run parts fluently.
Tooling
- Working knowledge of grinders, surface and O.D.
- Aid in tool selection.
- Solve tooling issues by:
- Identifying productivity of tooling.
- Evaluating tooling performance.
- Assessing new tooling requirements.
- Make decisions on tolerances and fits by part functionality requirements.
- Perform routine visual and dimensional inspection of parts per procedure specification
using measuring equipment.
- May be required to make prints of parts to aid department and machine operators.
- Design inspection gauges and techniques for Quality on new products when needed.
Preventative Maintenance/Housekeeping
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM’s) on machines.
- Assist in maintaining the general work area and overall shop area organized and clean.
Troubleshooting
- Reverse engineer and execute light fabrication work on broken parts.
- Create one-off parts without any set-up parts.

Education and Experience
- Prior mold making and/or tool making experience a plus.
- Prior apprenticeship in tool making preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Prolonged periods of walking and standing on concrete production flooring.
