The Director of Risk Management at iPlanGroup will be responsible for identifying, assessing, managing, and mitigating risks across the organization. This role involve developing and implementing a comprehensive risk management program to protect the company from operational, regulatory, financial, and strategic risks. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of risk management principles in the financial services sector, particularly within self-directed IRAs and alternative investments, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
· Business Owner & Project Manager for Software Implementation: Work cross-functionally with IT, Operations, and other relevant departments to ensure the successful and timely execution of software solutions, addressing any issues that arise and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and requirements.
· Develop & Implement Standard Operating Procedures: Develop and implement streamlined SOPs to ensure consistent execution, mitigate risk, and enable scalability. Identify, Document and Package the Processes following the EOS® 3-Step Process Documenter and Followed By All Checklist. Work closely with departments such as Operations, Technology, and Finance to ensure risk management practices are integrated into day-to-day processes. Provide risk management expertise and guidance on new products, services, and initiatives.
· Risk Management Policies: Create, implement, and maintain risk management policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the organization operates within its risk appetite and complies with regulatory requirements.
· Conduct Risk Assessments and Analysis: Regularly perform risk assessments to identify potential risks, vulnerabilities, and exposures. Analyze data to assess the likelihood and impact of risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
· Regulatory Compliance Oversight: Ensure that all company activities adhere to relevant regulatory standards, including IRS and Department of Labor guidelines related to self-directed IRAs. Collaborate with corporate attorneys to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
· Monitor Risk Metrics & Reporting: Establish key risk indicators (KRIs) and monitor them to detect and manage potential risks. Prepare and present risk reports to management and the Board, outlining identified risks, mitigation strategies, and recommendations.
· Incident Management & Response: Manage the identification, investigation, and resolution of incidents. Coordinate with relevant teams to implement corrective actions and minimize the impact of any risk events.
· Audit & Risk Reviews: Conduct regular audits and reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of risk management controls and ensure continuous improvement. Identify gaps in risk management practices and recommend enhancements.
· Develop & Conduct Risk Training: Create and lead risk management training programs to enhance risk awareness across the organization. Ensure that all team members understand their role in managing risk and adhere to risk management practices.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CERP, CRMA, or ARM) is a plus.
· 7 years of experience in operations, risk management, compliance, or related roles within the financial services industry, with a preference for experience in self-directed IRAs or alternative investments.
· Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, including IRS and Department of Labor guidelines related to self-directed IRAs.
· Proven experience developing and implementing risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex risks and develop actionable mitigation plans.
· Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across departments and levels of the organization.
· Experience in conducting risk training and fostering a risk-aware culture within an organization.

Work Expectations:
- Work Hours: This role typically requires 8-10 hours per day, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm. Flexibility in work hours may be required to accommodate critical deadlines, meetings with management, or to address urgent risk-related issues.
- Remote/On-Site: This is a hybrid role, and the role is typically required onsite at least 3 business days/week.
- Availability: Must be available to respond to urgent risk management issues as needed, which may occasionally require extended hours or availability outside of standard business hours.
- Performance Goals: Expected to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) related to risk management effectiveness, compliance, and incident resolution. Regular performance reviews will assess progress against these goals.
