Design Project Director

At IPS, you will apply your knowledge, skills, and passion to make a difference in the lives of people by solving complex challenges related to pharmaceutical, biotech, and animal health research and manufacturing facilities. We are looking for a dedicated Design Project Director to join our talented team at our office located in Somerset, NJ.

In this role, you will provide senior leadership on assigned programs and projects including profit, safety, and client management. You will oversee assigned Project Managers and Project Engineers to ensure achievement of contractually required quality in design, construction, commissioning, and qualification services.

Additional Responsibilities

• Oversees programs and/or multiple assigned projects, while ensuring the achievement of safety objectives.
• Lead assigned project managers to achieve corporate and project goals.
• Trains project assignees on good project management techniques and develops skills of all assigned personnel.
• Develop prime contract with Client.
• Oversees coordination of design, commissioning, and qualification schedule requirements with construction schedule.
• Work closely with the Project Manager to forecast the final cost of the project periodically.
• Coordinate with the Financial group to manage Accounts Receivable to meet corporate goals.
• Oversee assigned Project Managers and Project Engineers in the negotiation and management of subcontracts and purchase orders, including change control documentation and related financial documentation.
• Monitor the quality of document control and recommend corrective actions for document control deficiencies.
• Work with Estimating to develop project budgets.
• Ensure that all IPS design, construction, and compliance activities on project delivery projects comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor assigned Project Managers and Project Engineers, evaluate opportunities for their improvement and advancement, and recommend actions to exploit those opportunities.
• Assist Discipline and Operations Directors in the evaluation of Project Managers and Engineers as well as technical personnel.
• Oversees evaluation and payment of vendor and subcontractor invoices as required to meet project and corporate goals.
• Supports Director of Operations and General Manager in preparation of proposals.

• 15 years of experience.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Is licensed and stamped/signed drawings per applicable law.

Travel based on the project location. This position is a safety-sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
