Job Description :
At IPS, youll apply your knowledge, skills, and passion to make a difference in the lives of people, solving complex challenges related to pharmaceutical, biotech, and animal health research and manufacturing facilities. Were looking for a developing, innovative Electrical Engineer to assist in planning and designing electrical engineering projects within the Design Department. Responsibility will include performing specific tasks on project teams related to engineering design, such as lighting calculations, demand load estimates, and drafting construction plans. Youll apply your education, creativity, and expertise to resolve engineering problems with opportunities to learn from more experienced staff who will be available to provide direction.
As you grow in your electrical engineering career, youll prepare designs for low voltage systems, fire alarm systems, backup power generation, electrical power distribution, life safety systems, etc. Youll also use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.). Preparing project-related calculations will require the use of engineering formulas and specialty software.
Based in Cherry Hill, NJ , youll have the opportunity to research design options and document findings for the Project Designer / Engineer. Some drawings youll create yourself, and other sketches will be incorporated into drawings by drafters. You may create specialized drawings such as electrical riser diagrams. These drawings and designs must be done in accordance with company production and design standards. Youll assist in the selection of equipment based on the Project Designer / Engineer recommendations and fill out equipment schedules. When code issues arise, youll research them and ask general questions of code officials.
Well rely on you to modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for projects as well as organizing and maintaining files. Youll keep the Project Manager and Lead Engineer informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services for incorporation into drawings and specifications.
Work schedules are flexible with a hybrid model. Youll be expected to travel for occasional meetings and site visits (around 5-15% of your time).
Qualifications & Requirements :
- 6 years of previous design experience.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Experience in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)
- Experience with design of building electrical systems, such as building service, power distribution, generators, lighting, fire alarm, security, and other low voltage systems.
- General knowledge of the principles of electrical systems.
