Job Description :
At IPS, you will apply your knowledge, skills, and passion to make a difference in the lives of people, solving complex challenges related to pharmaceutical, biotech, and animal health research and manufacturing facilities. We are looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at our office located in Emeryville, California .
In this role, you will work independently on various projects as assigned by the Director of Mechanical Engineering.
What You'll Do
- Assess project requirements, break projects into tasks, and work with Project Managers to determine the scope of work while overseeing budget and staffing where appropriate.
- Write scopes of work for mechanical designs (including equipment, utilities, and process pipework systems) based on preliminary review and client meetings.
- Prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new equipment, utilities, and process pipework systems and analyze the operation of existing systems.
- Work with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to design standards.
- Conduct and review the work of the project design teams, check the progress of the work, and alert Project Managers of scope changes or additional services.
- Review contractor applications for payments and maintain an understanding of the construction process associated with equipment, utilities, and process pipework systems.
- Coordinate all aspects of project document completion within IPS, externally with clients, and with other relevant design professionals.
- Prepare or review construction budgets based on the project scope.
- Develops and promotes the use of IPS design and production standards.
