What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Director, Commercial Analytics & Operations, Rare Disease position at Ipsen?
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Commercial Analytics individual to join our Rare Disease Commercial Operations team as our newest Associate Director. As a highly visible and hands-on team member, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing key foundational capabilities and you will collaborate closely with Ipsen US Rare Disease Leadership to proactively guide the assessment and evolution of our commercial team.
Note that this is an on-site role based in our Cambridge, MA office.
Main Responsibilities & Job Expectations
- Perform advanced statistical analyses with market knowledge and modeling expertise to identify patterns within the Rare Disease data, uncover insights / brand opportunities, and articulate actionable recommendations
- Enable leadership to make informed, data-driven decisions by providing business analysis and analytical support, particularly in areas where data is difficult to assess, and high level of analytical skill is required
- Partner with Data, Digital & Analytics Rare Disease lead to design, track and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that are aligned with strategy and partner to design and work to develop standard reports
- Lead the monitoring of field execution performance against goals, delivering insights to enhance alignment with brand strategies
- Lead data working group within Rare Disease Business Unit, ensuring that reporting and data are fully understood by all commercial team stakeholders
- Help drive the long-term Rare Disease analytics strategy, ensuring the establishment of robust data-related procedures and processes to address business requirements
- Identify pivotal drivers of product performance and diagnose performance variations
- Integrate data from multiple sources to construct a single, coherent narrative of brand and market performance.
- Support business review presentation preparation, market and ad-hoc data inquiries
- Continually refine field force sizing, target list formulation, account/HCP prioritizations, and incentive compensation frameworks and targets, in alignment with commercial objectives
- Drive understanding of analytics in rare disease product launches and market access complexities
- Translate complex data into actionable insights using advanced analytics techniques and storytelling
- Align analytics outputs with brand objectives and broader strategic goals.
Knowledge, Abilities & Experience
- BA/BS in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Analytics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Finance) is required; advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD) preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in analytics or insights roles within Pharma/Biotech and/or analytics consulting with a focus on Rare Diseases preferred.
- Strong experience with pharmaceutical datasets, including secondary data (claims, RWD), SP/SD data, and sales performance metrics.
- Ideally, experience in product launch analytics and addressing complex business questions.
- Strategic thinking and curiosity to uncover key insights and drivers of performance.
- Ability to influence and build strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Natural curiosity and proactive approach to insights generation.
- Empathy and understanding of stakeholder needs, translating business questions into actionable analytics.
- Strong capability to manage through ambiguity
- Ability to balance structure and flexibility to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Able to work 2-3x days per week from our Cambridge, MA HQ
Key Technical Competencies Required
- Deep understanding of pharmaceutical datasets, including claims, RWD, Specialty Pharmacy / SD, and sales/demand data.
- Expertise in patient services and field execution data analysis to measure performance against goals.
- Proficiency in advanced analytics tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI).
- Expertise in developing and operationalizing KPIs for measuring brand performance
- Ability to identify critical business drivers and translate them into actionable metrics.
- Knowledge of data challenges and distribution complexities unique to Rare Diseases.
- Understanding of best practices in processing and interpreting insights for niche therapeutic areas.
- Strong ability to synthesize data insights into compelling narratives.
- Proficiency in visual storytelling tools to create impactful reports and dashboards.
The annual base salary range for this position is $171,900 - $210,000

The pay range displayed above is the range of base pay compensation within which Ipsen expects to pay for this role at the time of this posting. Individual compensation within this range depends on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, prior education and experience, job-related knowledge and demonstrated skills.
