Job Overview:Our client, the State of Maryland, is seeking a Jr. Vulnerability Assessment Analyst (Tier 1) to support their cybersecurity team in identifying and mitigating security risks across enterprise systems. This role is ideal for candidates looking to develop their skills in vulnerability assessments, security compliance, and risk management in a highly secure, mission-critical environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct vulnerability assessments to identify and evaluate security risks.
- Analyze and categorize vulnerabilities based on risk levels and potential impact.
- Assist in monitoring, triaging, and responding to security alerts and incidents.
- Document findings, generate reports, and provide remediation recommendations.
- Collaborate with security teams and IT personnel to ensure timely mitigation of security risks.
- Stay updated on emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–4 years of experience in cybersecurity, vulnerability management, or IT security.
- Understanding of network security, operating systems, and cloud security principles.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks, risk management, and compliance standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical report writing skills.
