Job Summary:
The FISH Cytologist will lead tissue processing activities, such as paraffin embedding, sectioning, and staining, while driving process improvements, troubleshooting equipment, and mentoring team members to ensure high-quality pathological analysis and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
What you’ll be doing:
Perform routine slide preparation activities for microscopic evaluation by pathologists.
Collaborate with pathologists to ensure accurate analysis and timely delivery of results.
Conduct FISH and IHC technical processing, staining procedures, and equipment maintenance.
Mentor and train junior staff, providing technical expertise and leadership on specialized techniques.
Troubleshoot equipment and processes using advanced problem-solving and root cause analysis.
Ensure compliance with local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
Drive process improvement initiatives, including reviewing laboratory metrics and collaborating with stakeholders.
Document laboratory methods, validations, and findings, presenting results to internal and external audiences.
What We Are Looking For:
High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
More than 5 years of experience in histopathology labs or disciplines (required).
ASCP certification or equivalent with 4 years of experience in clinical, research, academic, or production laboratories (required).
Other equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities needed for this role:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, and close eye work requirements (e.g., computer use, reading small prints). Physical demands vary based on tasks; occasional exposure to cold temperatures.
Proficiency in histology techniques, staining procedures, and laboratory equipment maintenance.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and multitasking ability.
Expertise in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, along with excellent oral and written communication skills.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $77,700.00 - $129,500.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.Salary : $77,700 - $129,500
