Job Summary
The Laser Engineer plays a key role in the development of commercial laser systems, particularly RF excited CO2 lasers. This individual will collaborate closely with our interdisciplinary team to design innovative laser products and related technologies.
Main Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead research and development projects, including implementation of work breakdown structures, Gantt charts, and budgeting of materials.
- Conduct optics and laser-oriented experiments focused on state-of-the-art CO2 laser products and subassemblies.
- Participate in concept and requirements definition, new technology assessments, and evaluation of alternative technical solutions.
- Evaluate laser performance at the component and system levels via both modeling and hands-on experimental methods.
- Develop and execute laser component reliability and qualification tests.
- Analyze and present test data; discuss results with technical staff, external partners, and customers.
- Collaborate with project teams to prepare engineering inputs, cost estimates, and schedules for proposals.
- Promote scientific rigor and individual skills advancement within the company's technical team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 5 years experience in optics and laser design for product development, preferably with RF excited CO2 lasers.
- Experience in executing engineering documentation, from design reviews and requirements documents to failure analysis and risk mitigation.
- Hands-on experience in laboratory technical work, preferably in optics and lasers.
- Demonstrated skill with contemporary computing and programming environments (MS Office, Python, MathLab).
