K-4 School Librarian (.5 FTE)

General Summary: Provides students with a rich library environment featuring diverse materials that support the school’s curriculum and encourage intellectual exploration and growth. Assists patrons in developing skills to effectively utilize library resources. Reports to the Principal. Essential Functions: Selects and acquires new library materials to meet curriculum and individual patron needs. Maintains and updates a high-quality collection of materials aligned with curricular goals. Utilizes various media (books, periodicals, digital resources) to enhance curriculum objectives. Ensures efficient organization and accessibility of materials and equipment. Informs faculty about library resources and new acquisitions. Integrates library resources into classroom instruction and assignments. Plans and executes promotional activities to foster library use and appreciation for literature. Guides students in independent research and effective use of reference materials. Enforces library conduct policies to maintain a conducive environment. Facilitates inter-library loans for patrons as needed. Implements flexible scheduling for groups and individuals to optimize library services. Provides orientation sessions for teachers and students. Assists in budget management and procurement of instructional materials. Collaborates in school-level curriculum planning. Manages and updates audio-visual materials collection. Conducts annual inventory of library materials. Supervises circulation procedures and maintains library catalog and files. Demonstrates leadership within the professional community. Maintains an inviting and conducive learning environment. Engages in ongoing professional development through conferences and meetings. Performs additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee. Operates office equipment such as copiers, computers, and calculators. Maintains respectful and cooperative interactions with others.
