REQUIREMENTS : Must be available to work 1 : 00 pm - 5 : 00 pm Monday - Thursday. Experience working with youth under age 18. Experience working in school settings. Must pass a criminal background check.
Position Summary
Schools Uniting Neighborhoods (SUN) Community Schools are a school-based service delivery model that provides a comprehensive set of services to the school communities we serve.
IRCO's SUN Community Schools offer various programs that support the student's education and family stability. SUN Extended Day Coordinator works with the SUN Site Manager to facilitate and run programs like after school classes, parent workshops, school events, food security programs, food pantries, and more. Programs and services are offered both virtually (on computer) and in-person, depending on the site and service area of the program.
Essential Functions
For staff supporting the after-school educational and enrichment programs :
- Be able to follow all school district and IRCO safety protocols related to the prevention of communicable diseases
- Treat youth and fellow staff respectfully while executing classroom management and adhering to school rules
- Create, develop, and / or implement an age-appropriate curriculum for youth enrichment classes, examples include art, soccer, music, writing, etc.
- Record and report accurate attendance to SUN Manager
- Encourage and assist youth with homework, when applicable
- Culturally responsive communication, outreach and engagement with students and families
- Communicate effectively with SUN Site Manager and parents about student's success
- Support the on-site distribution or home delivery of educational program kits or resources to students, as needed
- Support all school family nights, special events and program promotion events, both in- person and virtual
- Ensure all shared classrooms and spaces are clean and well organized at the end of the program day
- Attend all site-specific SUN staff meetings and orientations
- Support SUN Manager with registration paperwork and program implementation
- Support SUN Manager with data collection and data entry for all required databases
- Effectively work with individuals of diverse backgrounds

Education & Experience
MINIMUM JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS :
Knowledge
Education : High School or GED (1)
Experience : Less than one year of experience is required (2)
Licensure, Certification : State of Oregon Food Handler's Card
Computers : All positions at IRCO require use of a computer and experience working with Microsoft Products including but not limited to Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability to learn other applications as needed.
