Description The Nurse Extern will be responsible for assisting with unit/patient care needs under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. The nurse extern will shadow a nurse preceptor and observe nursing care while practicing in the role of a Certified Nursing Assistant I or II. Externs will be expected to work the schedule of their assigned preceptor. Schedule:
Full time - 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, available holidays and weekends and rotating shifts. Requirements Enrollment in an accredited nursing program and entering senior year fall of 2025. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Current listing as a Nurse Aide I in good standing with the Division of Health Regulation. Nurse Aide II required before start of Nurse Externship Program May 19, 2025. Must possess full range of body motion to pass a basic FIT test to include bending, stooping, standing and sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. *A 300-word essay will be required to apply for the Nurse Extern Program describing why you would like to be a nurse extern with Iredell Health System.
