What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Clinician position at Ireland Home Based Services?
Ireland Home Based Services is looking to add a Behavior Clinician to join our excellent, long-term Medicaid Waiver Behavior Support Services team, in the Evansville area!
Our Behavior Clinicians assist persons with developmental disabilities with living successful, meaningful, and independent lives through:
- Providing quality, community-based positive behavior support services
- Facilitating individualized behavior support plans via collaborative communication with the individuals served, their families, and their support teams including evaluating progress and the ongoing success of implemented strategies
- Providing consumers with training and education in assertiveness skills, stress reduction techniques, social and relationship development and other meaningful skill sets based upon needs and wants
- Educating direct support professionals on strategies that will support the individuals we work with to meet their identified goals
Who We Work With and What We Do
We provide positive behavior support services to consumers receiving services through the Medicaid Waiver system. We work with a clinically diverse group of people diagnosed with developmental disabilities, including:
- People with the wide range of Intellectual Disability qualifiers, including people with Borderline Intellectual Disabilities, and high Mild Intellectual Disabilities
- People diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders including those with significant functional limitations due to their diagnosis and those who are very independent without any comingled Intellectual Disabilities
- People with comorbid mental health diagnoses, including mood disorders, psychosis disorders, substance use and abuse, personality disorders, etc.
- People who live in various settings across our community, including those who are very independent who drive and hold jobs in the community, people who live in family homes (including children and adults), people who receive 24/7 supervised supports with housemates, etc.

Our job is to help our consumers live as independently as possible within our community by helping them build positive behavioral change WITH the consumer and their teams! To help them to develop skills to help them be more independent across their environments to help our consumers live their best life possible!
A Qualified Candidate will have:
- A Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, and/or Special Education, have an LMHC or an LMFT, OR a Master's Degree in another human service field and have coursework in or five years of experience in devising/implementing/monitoring behavior support plans may also qualify
- Experience working with persons with developmental disabilities is a plus!
- Experience in the following is preferred:
- Developing functional behavioral assessments and/or social history assessments
- Writing positive, strength-based behavior support plans and monitoring strategy effectiveness
- Implementing behavior support plans
- Ability to work flexible hours, carry and respond to a cell phone, and travel, as needed
