Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team as a Senior Data Center Technical Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the mechanical discipline efforts on present and future site development regarding design, construction, commissioning, and operations of HPC data centers.
Responsibilities
- Act as Owner's representative and subject matter expert on any design, construction, commissioning, and operational activities related to cooling systems for HPC data centers.
- Review and validate specifications, calculations, drawings, and other technical information from external parties like consultants, equipment manufacturers, engineering firms, or commissioning agents.
- Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Perform or support any technical efforts like calculations, simulations, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and thermal analysis to optimize liquid and air cooling and airflow.
- Support any project development efforts like schedules, budgets, and resource plans, attending required meetings and working collaboratively with site and corporate staff and external engineering partners.
- Support and/or lead as required construction, installation, and commissioning activities in the mechanical space as necessary.
- Monitor system performance, making sure the site operates within allowed parameters and to the highest degree of reliability and utilization, determining present and future system capacity, real-time system limitations, and implementing energy-efficient solutions that maximize value for the company.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution with at least 5 years of experience in Data Centers and/or mission critical facilities design, construction, or operations.
- Sound knowledge of large-scale water and air-cooled chilled water cooling plant design, including their flow diagrams, P&IDs, and sequence of operations.
- Experience with energy and HVAC load calculation software tools.
- Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and/or other relevant design tools.
- Knowledge of Computerized Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools.
- Knowledge of data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools and solutions.
- High level of knowledge of relevant ASHRAE Handbooks/Standards, ASPE design handbooks, IPC codes, IEEC codes, and any other relevant to data centers and mission critical facilities.
- Good leadership skills and interpersonal relations in order to lead by influencing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to cater to different audiences with diverse backgrounds, from junior staff to senior leadership.
- Self-driven individual, with attention to detail and ability to execute high-quality work with limited direction.
- Ability to deal comfortably with uncertainty and limited resources or information.
