Position Summary
The Adult Services Assistant Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the supervision and training of staff, and the direct training and supervision of selected clients who are receiving services at the Adult Day Activity Program. The duties include but are not limited to quality programming and service delivery to ensure positive outcomes for ADA clients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Assist in providing daily supervision of ADA staff.
2. Participate in the selection of clients referred to the Adult Day Activities program. Serve on the admissions committee for incoming referrals.
3. Assist in establishing and maintaining record keeping according to IWC policies and procedures and in accordance with CARF standards and any other referral/funding agencies requirements.
4. Promotes and maintains communications with ancillary referring agencies regarding clients’ progress.
5. Assist in providing orientation, training, and evaluations for adult services staff and volunteers. .
6. Keeps abreast of current rehabilitation/habilitation trends by participating in in-services, professional conferences, course work, committees, etc when appropriate.
7. Must be able to work flexible schedule.
8. Directly supervises the services that clients receive.
9. Strictly maintains employee/client confidentiality.
10. Participates in meetings as needed, including client team meetings.
11. Is responsible for client advocacy.
12. Actively coordinates and communicates assigned client individualized program plans, goals, program implementation, objectives, restrictions, needs and other pertinent client information with other relevant IWC staff and outside agencies.
13. Coordinates and communicates with residential programs and ancillary service providers as needed.
14. Monitors, collects and distributes data as appropriate regarding assigned client program plans.
15. Maintains individual files and writes reports following IWC policies and regulatory and referring agency guidelines.
16. Assist in the preparation of monthly clinical documentation and billing for Adult Day Activities Program.
17. Ensure that all approved policies and procedures are implemented in a fashion that best meets the needs of all clients served.
18. Ensure continued compliance with all ICF/IID regulations, NC Department of Public Instruction standards, NC Division of MH/DD/SAS/ & Division of Aging and Adult Services standards, Innovations, CARF, APSM, and all other statutes, regulations, or standards that are necessary for the continued operation of IWC.
19. Monitor and report maintenance needs of facility and equipment to Adult Services Coordinator and/or other relevant parties.
20. Assist in monitoring, purchasing, and ordering of approved supplies and equipment.
21. Relate to the families of all clients in a positive, professional and therapeutic manner. Formal and informal communication with and support of families is a significant facet of community-based services, and is thus an integral part of this role.
22. Assist in the administrative decision making in the absence of the Adult Services Coordinator.
23. Other duties as assigned.
Education/Training
A graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a human service field and has two years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated MH/DD/SA experience with the population served and QP qualified.
Necessary Special Qualifications
Must be eighteen years of age or older and possess a valid Driver’s License

Ability to work effectively with individuals with special needs. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to accurately record data and document observations, events and medications. Ability to communicate with other staff and members of the community. Be a flexible team player.

Other Qualifications or Requirements
Mental Effort: Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions. Good critical thinking skills and ability to work independently.
Visual Effort: Must be able to read small print in different lighting environments, with good field of vision
Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting up to 40 pounds independently.
Safety: Behavior problems such as aggression of clients and/or lifting could cause bodily injury. Help promote a safe environment for all clients, staff, etc. by reporting unsafe conditions to immediate supervisor.
Working Conditions: Well lighted and ventilated, even temperature, accessible parking. Employees work primarily indoors in residential facility with some exposure to conditions which are slightly disagreeable such as toileting and feeding.
Scope of Position: Number of employees supervised: 6 or more.
