Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities
The Iridium Internship Program is an opportunity for students to be a part of the Iridium teams shaping the future of satellite communications. As an Intern, you’ll begin making an impact on real projects from day one! Come prepared to grow, develop, and learn alongside a team and the leaders of our company. The Iridium Internship program is a 12-week program that runs from May 20, 2024 to August 9, 2024. During the program, interns will have the opportunity to provide valuable support to an Iridium department on a project or important work assignment. Interns will also be provided an opportunity to engage with senior leadership and fellow interns via regular engagement activities. Interns will participate in an end of internship presentation, where we ask them to reflect on their summer internships and present a summary of what they have learned and accomplished.
What We’re Looking For:
The Iridium Product Management team is seeking a bright intern to focus on Radio Frequency (RF) Design. As a member of the team you will perform various tasks associated with the evaluation of existing and new products and services within Iridium. The positioning will focus on RF design and evaluation aspects related to supporting our key customers and partners. You will come away with a much deeper understanding of what it takes to design and evaluate satellite products and services "in the real world."
What You’ll Do:
- Assist with simulation, emulation and verifying performance across different Iridium satellite devices and transceivers
- Assist with the evaluation of Iridium products and transceivers to verify conformance to requirements using industry leading hands-on RF design and evaluation tools
- Assist with the testing and adjusting/tuning of Iridium products and transceivers
- Assist with collecting and developing requirements related to RF performance and operation
- Conduct analyses and present your summarized findings and implications
- Support Senior Engineers as they work with the product and partner support teams and customers.
- Your experience and aptitude will help define the activities you receive.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

- Understand basic Integrated Circuit building blocks like LNA/PA, mixer, switch, bias, filters, op-amp, etc.
- Understand design parameters like gain, noise, non-linear components, 1dB compression, s-parameters, etc.
- Understanding the different types of modulation techniques
- Able to develop scripts and simulators with standard software tools and programming languages (Python, MATLAB, Java, C).
- Working in a laboratory environment

- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Must be currently enrolled in a bachelors or graduate degree program at an accredited academic institution (Marketing/Business Management or Engineering or IT Management track)
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
