What We’re Looking For:
As a Business Development Associate Director at Iridium, you will be a critical member of the sales and business development team and will be responsible for the execution of Iridium’s strategy as it relates to the national defense and security business within the Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) organization. In this role, you will manage existing relationships with defense and security government organizations and associated industry partners operating in the defense and security sector. A key focus will be on accelerating development and sales of next-generation Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) technologies and user equipment, driving revenue growth of Iridium’s PNT service(s). The successful candidate will have a solid technical background in hardware or software related to satellite or GPS technology, have experience with U.S. and/or international defense customers and markets, and has recent experience in a business/relationship management role.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead assigned business development activities by developing and executing strategies for capturing new business and revenue for Government PNT business, including both U.S. and international pursuits
- Build both defense and prime contractor customer and strategic partner relationships to evolve and expand current campaigns, driving towards developing and capturing new business opportunities
- Support and/or lead technical discussions with industry partners and translate their needs to the internal product development teams
- Formulate requirements for new product ideas and knowledge into recommendations to meet customer needs
- Collaborate with the PNT leadership team to develop, articulate, and execute a business development strategy with short, mid, and long-term goals, by providing input from industry and government customers
- Partner and work closely with customers to better understand and anticipate their needs
- Contact prospective customers to build relationships, advise of new products or offerings, and support team in resolving issues
- Plan and participate in technical/product presentations/demonstrations/trade shows
- Work closely across all internal organizations to build productive relationships and leverage them to influence decisions that drive results supporting the business objectives
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or similar technical field (i.e., Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering)
- 12 years of aerospace and defense industry or military experience. It is preferred that at least 3 of those years are in a Business Development role
- Previous experience with PNT technology is strongly preferred
- Previous international business development and/or military experience is strongly preferred
- Knowledge in GPS/GNSS technology and navigation systems is required
- Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration skills that includes proven communication and presentation skills
- Must have hands on technical experience and be able to communicate effectively with technical staff internally and externally
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues clearly and confidently, and effectively recognize and adapt to different communication techniques
- Be a strategic thinker who demonstrates good judgment and decisiveness
- Be able to analyze a situation or problem and come up with effective solutions
- Can easily form relationships with executive leadership and encourage cross-functional team building
- The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment by handling multiple tasks according to deadline and budget limitations
- Be proactive in finding new and enhanced ways of doing things and sharing your knowledge with others
Other requirements:
- This position directly performs under, supports, or is exposed to a U.S. government contract. To comply with the requirements of that U.S. government contract, applicants for this position must be U.S. citizen
- DoD SECRET security clearance required; TOP SECRET preferred
- Must be able to travel 25-35% on average
Work Environment:
This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. For in person meetings, this position will need to be able stand, walk within the office and climb stairs on occasion.
