In this role, your duties will include supervising junior and senior software engineers, analyzing software performance and configuration systems, and managing the deployment and integration of new software. You will also be required to hire new software engineers.What You’ll Do : Foster and develop a highly effective team of embedded / real-time software engineers to improve the existing Iridium Application Software (ASW) and Middleware (MW) capabilities and to add new services and capabilitiesMentor and train your team by performing regular check-ins, discussing career growth opportunities, giving constructive feedback, and managing conflict when necessaryWork independently to organize, monitor and report on multiple projects Function / serve as the teams agile scrum master to facilitate daily standups, sprint reviews, sprint retrospectives and sprint planning sessionsMobilize the team to respond to on orbit anomalies and organize the effort to investigate the anomaly and propose solutions for resolving or working around the issueEnsure the team uses approved development practicesCollaborate with other managers, the Satellite Software Product Owner and technical leads to maintain and improve the software development processes and practicesWork with multiple project managers to allocate team members on various projects to meet corporate prioritiesManage overhead budget for your team with regards to travel, training, and awardsExperience & Education Requirements / EEOWhat You’ll Need to Succeed : Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science or related field10 years of experience in software development and team leadership5 years of management or leadership experienceExperience with agile practicesCapable of being a strong motivator and source of direction for your team and role modelling commitment to your team’s goalsHave a people-oriented mentality and be able to build meaningful relationships with senior leadership on your team and in other departmentsExcellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex results and ideas and be open to other points of viewBe able to analyze and understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions, come up with and evaluate unique solutions, and see those solutions through to completionBe independent and self-motivated and demonstrate a high degree of creativity, flexibility, and resourcefulnessHave a strong sense of urgency in driving projects to completion and be motivated to achieve outcomes and resultsCan thrive in a dynamic environment and efficiently manage multiple or complex projects while continuously looking for new and enhanced ways of doing thingsThings That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table : Have worked in the embedded space software industryHave Scrum master certificationHave experience managing agile teamsWe’ll also need you to : Be on call to support on-orbit anomaly resolutionBe able to travel up to 2 times a yearBe able to work a hybrid role- 3 days in-office (T-TH) and 2 days from homeUS Citizen with no Dual CitizenshipWork Environment : This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office.
