Purpose:
Perform high-quality painting, refinishing, and maintenance work on boats and marine equipment. Responsibilities:
- Prepare boats and marine equipment for painting, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and applying primers.
- Perform fiberglass and gel coat repairs, including filling cracks, sanding, color matching, and buffing to restore surfaces.
- Repair structural damage in fiberglass using resin, reinforcement materials, and appropriate curing techniques.
- Apply paints, varnishes, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment, ensuring a smooth and even finish.
- Inspect surfaces for imperfections and touch up as necessary to meet quality standards.
- Maintain and clean painting tools, equipment, and workspace for safe and efficient operations.
- Adhere to safety and environmental protocols when handling paints, solvents, and other materials.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to ensure boat finishes remain durable and aesthetically appealing.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure project timelines are met.
- Keep detailed records of materials used and time spent on each project.
- Assist with other maintenance tasks as needed to support team operations.
- Show initiative to assist in other areas when work is slow.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in marine or automotive painting preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Ability to handle tools and equipment related to painting safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of different paint types, varnishes, and application techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and work collaboratively with a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding environments.
- Familiarity with safety protocols for working with chemicals and hazardous materials.
