Salary :
IRISNDT is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rope Access Blade Repair Technician (Tech 3) to lead inspection, maintenance, and repair operations on wind turbine blades using rope access techniques. As a Tech 3, you will take a leadership role in overseeing the safety, quality, and efficiency of the work performed. You will serve as a mentor to lower-level technicians and play a critical part in blade repair operations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Advanced Blade Inspections and Repairs
Perform inspections of wind turbine blades visually
Execute and oversee advanced blade repair techniques, including structural repairs, tip replacements, bonding, and lightning protection system restorationEnsure all repairs meet manufacturers and company standardsDiagnose complex damage and provide feedback to engineering teamsServe as a lead technician, mentoring and training junior blade repair personnelEnsure quality control standards are met in all repair workManage on-site logistics, including tool and material inventory, ensuring readiness for scheduled repairsCollaborate with engineering, project management, and maintenance teams to resolve technical challengesDocument all activities in compliance with company and customer requirements, delivering detailed repair reportsRope Access Operations and LeadershipLead rope access operations in accordance with IRATA and / or SPRAT Level 3 standards, including rigging anchor systems and performing safety checks
Supervise and mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 technicians in rope access techniques and repair processesServe as the site safety supervisor during all rope access activities, ensuring compliance with all safety proceduresSafety Management and ComplianceConduct and document site-specific risk assessments, including Job Site Analysis (JSA)
Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols, including proper PPE use and fall protection measuresMaintain accurate records of inspections, equipment use, and certifications to comply with regulatory and company requirementsLeadership and Project CoordinationProven leadership skills in managing teams in a field environment
Ability to train and mentor lower-level technicians effectivelyCollaborate with project managers and site supervisors to plan and prioritize work schedulesProvide technical expertise to resolve challenges during inspections or repairsEnsure project completion within timelines while maintaining high-quality standardsDocumentation Communication and ReportingCreate detailed reports on inspection findings, repair work competed, and any follow-up recommendations
Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and other stakeholdersMaintain logs of all equipment inspections and repairsQualifications, Experience and Requirements :
Qualifications and SkillsHigh School Diploma or equivalent is required
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in wind turbine blade repair or composite repair is requiredIRATA and or SPRAT Rope Access Level 3 certification(s) requiredGlobal Wind Organization Basic Safety Training (GWO BST) required; NPFA 70 is preferredGlobal Wind Organization Advanced Rescue Training (GWO ART) is preferredStrong background in rope access techniques and team supervisionValid Driver's License and a clean driving record is requiredPre-access drug and alcohol testing requiredPre-employment MVO and Criminal background checks will be requiredAbility and willingness to travel 100% to various locations throughout the U.S.A. is requiredTechnical SkillsExpertise in composite materials, resin systems, and laminating
Proficiency in using tools and power equipment required for blade repairsWork Conditions and Mental & Physical RequirementsMove, carry and lift objects weighing a minimum of 50 lbs.
Must be able to walk, stand, bend, reach, and climbRemain constantly active throughout duration of shiftVision abilities : close vision and distance visionExcellent physical fitness and the ability to endure prolonged outdoor work in varying weather conditionsComfortable working at heights greater than 250 ft.Strong interpersonal skills in effective communication and the ability to work within a teamWillingness to assist in training and mentoring lower-level techniciansCompensation and Benefits :
