Position Overview:
Reporting to the Site Manager; the NDE Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Radiography Testing (RT) activities for Run and Maintain Account within the facility, ensuring inspections are performed according to established standards, scheduling NDT/RT technicians, managing documentation, and maintaining compliance with quality control procedures, often collaborating with other departments to guarantee the integrity of materials and structures without causing damage to them; key duties include planning NDT/RT operations, assigning tasks to technicians, reviewing inspection reports, identifying and resolving non-conformances, and communicating with clients and stakeholders regarding NDT/RT findings.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of refineries and capable of supervising up to 10 RT/NDT personnel, (potentially more during turnarounds) and is SNT Level II certified in RT/MT/PT/UTT/PMI with a strong NDT and RT background in Weld Quality and Profiles. RSO experience or the willingness to obtain RSO qualifications will be required.

Key Responsibilities:
Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop NDT/RT inspection plans, coordinate inspection activities, schedule technicians based on run and maintain job scope requirements, and allocate appropriate NDT/RT methods to which include but are not limited to: Radiography (RT), Ultrasonic Thickness (UTT), Magnetic Particle (MT), Penetrant (PT), Positive Material Identification (PMI), etc.
Quality, Safety and Compliance Management:
- Monitor NDT/RT activities to ensure adherence to relevant codes, standards, procedures, and job scope specifications.
- Review inspection reports for accuracy and completeness and identify any non-conformances.
- Perform Quality and Safety audits.
Technician Management:
- Supervise and train NDT/RT technicians, including Level II personnel, on proper techniques and procedures.
- Assign tasks to NDT/RT technicians, provide technical guidance, and ensure their qualifications are current and appropriate for the job.
Interpretation of Inspection Results:
- Analyze NDT/RT data, interpret findings, and determine if components meet quality standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of NDT/RT inspections, including data analysis, defect reports, and non-conformance documentation.
- Prepare detailed NDT/RT reports documented from findings, including any defects or anomalies.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Liaise with project managers, quality inspectors, engineers, and other stakeholders to coordinate NDT/RT activities and address any concerns while ensuring inspection timelines are met.
Subcontractor Oversight:
- When applicable, manage and monitor the performance of external NDT/RT project technicians.
Procedure Development:
- Assist in developing or modifying NDT/RT procedures as needed.
Training and Development:
- Provide ongoing training to NDT/RT technicians on new procedures, equipment, and industry updates.
Incident Investigation and Data Analysis:
- Track NDT/RT results, analyze and report on any NDT/RT-related issues or non-conformances to identify root causes and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Qualifications, Experience, and Requirements:
Education and Certification:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- SNT Level II certified in multiple NDT methods; Radiography (RT), Ultrasonic Thickness (UTT), Magnetic Particle (MT), Penetrant (PT), and Positive Material Identification (PMI), etc.
- Additional SNT Level II NDT/RT and or API 510/570/653 certifications will be considered an asset.
- Current IRRSP or State Card will be considered an asset.
- RSO experience -or- the willingness to obtain RSO qualifications required.
Pre-Hire and Pre-Access Requirements:
- Valid Driver's License and pre-access drug and alcohol testing required.
- Pre-employment background checks will be required.
Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding and knowledge of various NDT/RT methods, principles, inspection techniques, and applicable codes and standards.
- Ability to interpret NDT/RT data, analyze results, and identify potential defects.
- Thorough understanding of NDT/RT programs, governing standards, training, and certification requirements.
- Knowledge of basic elements necessary to each NDT/RT method as well as inspection test plans, sampling protocols, and probabilities of detection.
Quality Assurance Knowledge:
- Familiarity with quality control procedures and documentation practices.
Leadership Skills:
- Ability to manage teams of NDT/RT technicians, delegate tasks effectively, and resolve issues.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and project management skills.
- Ability to analyze site conditions and make real-time decisions.

Work Conditions:
- Position is based on site or out of a branch office.
- Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in diverse industrial environments with varying weather conditions.
- Interaction with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
- May be required to work at heights and/or in close, confined spaces for long periods of time.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to lift, move and carry objects weighing 75 pounds or more.
- Must be able to walk, stand, bend, reach, and climb.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by safety department for personal protection (PPE).
