What are the responsibilities and job description for the Evening/Night Lead Lab Tech position at IRMC?
In this role you will be:
- Providing day to day supervision of the laboratory section.
- Overseeing and directing procedures and staff to ensure all required policies and operational procedures are followed.
- Responsible for technical and scientific oversight of the laboratory section.
- Assisting the director in selecting test methodologies appropriate for clinical use, test performance, and verification of test procedures, ordering of reagents, and evaluating and documenting competency of all staff and identifying training needs.
- Utilizing knowledge of equipment, supplies, and techniques used in a medical laboratory as well as laboratory regulations and CAP guidelines.
- Establishing short-range plans within the scope of the hospital mission.
- Utilizing excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
- Supervising staff during evening and night shifts.

Qualifications:
Required:
- EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in medical technology/clinical laboratory science, or other relevant field
- EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years experience in a hospital laboratory, with prior supervisory/lead tech experience helpful
- LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
- MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) certification required
- Technologists certified after January 1, 2004 must renew certification every 3 years by participating in a certification maintenance program
- Advanced certification in a laboratory specialty must be obtained within 1 year of hire
- MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) certification required
